EM™ in your community:

A fundamental aspect of Dr Higa’s philosophy about EM™ is 'creating a society based on co-existence and co-prosperity'.  Dr Higa views the serious global problems such as air pollution and food shortages as the result of the modern competitive principle, taken to extremes.

Many communities may have common goals, such as security or maintaining standards of tidiness and even social networking. By the same token, communities can gather round the environment-friendly miracle substance called EM™.

How about community projects such as vegetable or herb gardening? How about the exchange of gardening expertise? Teaching children in the neighbourhood about gardening, about soil and water pollution? What about an out-reach gesture to help another community?

EM™ can be ideal to forge a community bond round the environment. EM™ can help to create a communal spirit round the bounty and the wonder of nature.

Perhaps you community has a particular pollution issue – water pollution, air pollution. These can be addressed and improved with the help of Effective Microorganisms™.

For now, begin to think about how you can give a hand or take care of your immediate area on planet earth…

EM™ and the environment:

The environment is mainly reflected in the soil, water and air.

EM™ has the potential for resolving two major sources of concern: pollution in general and the resultant deterioration of the environment.

Originally, EM™ was developed for use in agriculture (crop farming) as an alternative to agricultural chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers, but has also developed into an excellent environment management system.

The ecological condition of the soil and water is mainly dependant on the dominant microorganisms inhabiting these areas. Plants will grow poorly in areas dominated by putrefactive bacteria, but will flourish in areas where effective microorganisms are dominant.

In any given situation, it is virtually impossible for EM™ to be dominant. However, EM™ stimulates native microorganisms, most of which are opportunistic, and allows them to cooperate beneficially with EM™ in order to improve their environment. EM Technology™ is based on the idea of coexistence and mutualism with native and originally-dominant microorganisms, not the exclusion of them.

EM™ has now been established in a wide range of applications:

  • The production of organic foods and natural health-care products
  • The production of organic fertilizers and silage from recycled green wastes
  • The economical maintenance and recycling of quality drinking water
  • Natural purification and treatment of waste-waters/sludge
  • Decontamination of natural and man-made disaster sites
  • Bio-remediation of toxic and hazardous waste sites and spills
  • An innoculant for composting a huge variety of organic wastes
  • To innoculate both farm and urban wastes, suppressing odours and hastening the  treatment process
  • The production of renewable and clean-burning bio-fuels
  • Livestock, poultry, and crop farming with environmental quality maintenance.
